My Life is Lost

22 Jun

Someone just posted a link to this site:

http://mylifeislost.tumblr.com/

Thought it  was kinda touching. And it reminded me of this classic from

Overheard in New York:

That Jerk Never Returns My Calls
Girl #1: This whole Ben situation is really starting to piss me off.
Girl #2: I know! I just don’t know what his deal is.
Girl #1: He called me like twelve times yesterday.
Girl #2 (stopping in the middle of Penn Station): He called you? (pauses for a moment) Oh, you mean Ben your boyfriend, don’t you?
Girl #1: As opposed to?
Girl #2: Ben from Lost.
Girl #1: Don’t talk to me for an hour, please.

I’m so heartbroken. I miss Lost so much. Every time you (Jorge) post to your blog my phone’s ringtone is set to play the alarm sound from the hatch. It brings a smile to my face every time. I may change it to a Hurley sound bite. Thank you for leting us follow you and hold on to the memories a little longer.

My husband and I often feel like we’re living Lost, not in the dangerous sort of way but just in all the weirdness…we miss it! – the show that is…

  7. Margie June 22, 2010 at 6:32 pm #

Jorge, Those were great! I am seriously in LOST withdrawals. I go to the ABC website and just watch the little snippets of the finale and I get teary eyed every time. I’ve been watching the Jimmy Kimmel alternate lost scenes also and those make me laugh so much. Hope you and Beth are doing good and hanging in there. Hope your travels are safe.

  8. Debbie Johnson June 22, 2010 at 6:52 pm #

Reading those posts made me so happy. Thank you!

It’s so wierd that there’s actually what people call a “post-LOST depression” that people get. I’m not a TV person so for me it was kind of like, why would people get so wrapped up in a stupid show? And then this past February, me and my husband started Season 1… annnnnnd I was hooked. We’d put the baby to bed and watch 4, 6, sometimes 7 episodes in a row, staying up until 3 or 4 in the morning some nights. We finished 2 weeks ago, and let me tell you, the depression has hit me a bit too! I know I haven’t had the six year viewing relationship that most others had (mine was more of a high-emotion, all consuming fling!) but I still feel a little sad nonetheless. Although… I CAN watch it all again (I did start season 1 this afternoon whilst folding the laundry!)

I do have to say though, I’ve had a couple of laughs lately that have kept it a bit lighter… I found this screensaver that’s basically the Swan Station microprocessor, you can set an alarm to go off when you like as well, and to exit the screensaver you have to type in the numbers. I installed it last night,(our computer’s next to the bed) and my hub’s 5am wake up call was “beep beep beep beep!!” and a flashing icon… poor guy didn’t know what to think!

The whole sadness seems so ludicrous to me, but I have to admit to it too! :p At least I know I’m not crazy. But I wonder how YOU must feel, you lived this for how many years! I can’t imagine how it’s affected you, this particular season of your life being over and thinking about what to do next.

No matter what it is, I’ll be tuning in! You do great work!!

  10. Manisha June 22, 2010 at 7:43 pm #

I’m also going thru Lost Withdrawal…I’m following you both and it makes it easier to accept it’s over….weird huh?

  11. Julie June 22, 2010 at 8:12 pm #

Awesome. I say stuff like that too, and my husband thinks I’m nuts! Just the other day I told my bro-in-law that “nothing’s irreversible.” :o)

BTW, I have yet to re-watch the finale. The depression that I felt for a good week after watching it the first time was so intense, I can’t bear doing that to myself again. Some people on the lostpedia message boards have signatures with clips from the finale and I get teary-eyed from just looking at those!

  12. Ewan June 22, 2010 at 8:46 pm #

Jorge, That website is so true. for the 5 years that lost has evidently been a part of my life, I’ve started using phrases such as..

‘Morning Yourself’ When responding to early acknowledgments at work.
‘Whatever happened, happened’ When responding to a troublesome story.

And 2 of which you may enjoy
‘You make your own luck’ when acting jacoblike to friends and loved ones who need ‘shepharding’ =P

    and…

    ‘Dude’ OFC

Just started with your blog Jorge. loving it! Look forward to other posts!

  13. pamelalovescharlie June 22, 2010 at 9:14 pm #

LOL! If we can get calls from our “Losties”, I pick Hurley 😉

  14. Heather June 22, 2010 at 10:15 pm #

Love it! I miss Lost so much. Still can’t believe it’s all over. I don’t think it’s hit me yet. Right now I’m in denial and pretending it’s just between seasons. I remember watching the pilot, I had no idea what I was watching but I was so intrigued and thought it was a TV movie. Little did I know that it would turn into a wild and crazy 6 year ride! I have enjoyed the ride and enjoyed you on the show Jorge. Lost was my weekly escape from my life. No matter what was going on, once Lost was on I wouldn’t think about anything else. I truly got ‘Lost’ in it and I’m so sad that it’s over. After the finale I had such a weird feeling. I felt like I had lost my best friends. Sorry to sound corny or sappy or whatever, but the show meant a lot to me and I don’t think another TV show will be able to touch me in the same way. I’ve even had dreams about Lost where I’m on the island with all of you! I have mixed feelings about the way it ended, but the more I think about it, it was the fact that it ended that I didn’t like more than not liking the ending. I love reading about your adventures Jorge. Thank you for sharing with us!

    • Eddie M June 23, 2010 at 2:41 pm #

      Heather,
I don’t think it’s corny or sappy because I’m experiencing the same feelings. I always enjoyed Lost, but now that it’s gone, I’m obsessed with it. This can’t be healthy, but I can’t help myself. It’s good to know that I’m not the only one going through a real post-Lost depression.

    • Kyra June 23, 2010 at 4:50 pm #

Same here!! I cried for hours!! It felt like I had lost a part of me 😥 So sad. It was honestly the best show I’ve ever seen.

  15. Debbie M. June 23, 2010 at 12:26 am #

I wouldn’t be surprised if in a couple of years a Lost feature film is made. There were a lot of unanswered questions. More stories could be told. Of course they would be told in flashback.

Feature films were made other T.V. shows such as the X-Files and Star Trek. I hope you would be on board Jorge. I think it would be very successful.

  16. Laurel Avery June 23, 2010 at 1:55 am #

I just adored Lost and do miss seeing it every week. But what I’m really looking forward to is seeing you in some new projects. I can’t wait!

    • Kyra June 23, 2010 at 4:51 pm #

Yes! I really hope we see you soon again Jorge!!

  17. Kitti June 23, 2010 at 2:01 am #

OMG… XD (I could be Girl #2, but I have nobody that has a boyfriend with LOST names…:S)
Have you seen already ‘The John Locke Rap’? 🙂 It’s the best, watch it right now!

    • Janet June 23, 2010 at 12:38 pm #

That John Locke rap song is totally awesome! They did a terrific job! Thanks for posting it.

Sometime in the future, I hope you’ll consider writing your memoirs of your six Lost years. You have a warm and witty way with words and that’s what has kept me coming back to your blog for the past couple of years. I miss Lost a great deal so thanks for continuing your blogging, Jorge, and for allowing your fans to remain in touch with you even though Lost is over. Wishing only good things for you and your career!

  19. Heather June 23, 2010 at 5:48 am #

Thank you for sharing that website – it is very funny stuff!!!! I only found your blog right after the Lost Season Finale and this is the first time I’ve left a comment, but I just wanted to tell you that I think it’s wonderful that you share a glimpse of your life with your fans this way. How truly amazing you are!!
I miss Lost just like everyone else, but I look forward to watching it on DVD for a long time. And I really look forward to seeing you in new endeavors! 🙂

  20. Jerry Chappell June 23, 2010 at 5:50 am #

The story is over. It’s finished–the end.
Let me tell you what happened to Hurley and Ben…

They worked well together, Lardo and Bug-eyes.
But Dharmaville echoed like Lord of the Flies.

Years on the island, they worked to be free.
By airplane and ship they brought twenty-three.

Some candidates lived; some candidates died.
Electromagnetic storms even got one fried.

Our boys sent a maelstrom over the fjord.
And a ship was sucked in, with Annie on board.

Ben was elated, his LOST love was back,
And Hurley averted her shipmate’s attack.

The shipmate, Custodio, was destined at birth,
To take over from Hurley and take care of the earth.

So Hurley, with Ben, and Annie in tow,
Left Custodio in charge, as they headed for home.

One nice little package, they lived rich like kings,
In suburban Ohio (if there is such a thing).

Definitely missing Lost. As far as depression, I can’t say that I’m depressed per se, but every time I see a clip or picture from the show, my eyes begin to well up with tears, so it’s obvious I’m feeling something for sure, if not exactly depression. We love you all, and I hope you and Bethany are doing okay and enjoying your travels. Thanks for keeping us in the loop as always.

  29. Teléfila June 23, 2010 at 11:24 am #

Jajajaja, that’s really funny. By the way… I spent last weekend inLondon and many things reminded me to “Lost”. I saw and advertisment where I read “Happily Ever After” and the episode came to my mind, I went to musical and a guy said “brotha” and I thought of Desmond and while walking I suddleny found myself singing “Downtown”. Maybe what happens is that I miss the series??

    New favorite website, thanks dude.

  34. Karla June 23, 2010 at 4:21 pm #

Yep, if only we could go back in time….I’d love to relive the experiences of watching every LOST epi for the first time! And then watching it 2 more times before the next episode aired.

LOST developed a life style for it’s viewers, an entirely new sub-culture that we gladly joined. The best TV/Entertainment experience of my entire life.

I have actually suffered from horrible major depressive episodes all of my life, and LOST was great therapy for me. I used it as a diversion, another place for my mind to go rather that into the pit of depression. LOST saved my life so many times.

Jorge, I posted to you on the Fuselage several yrs ago…thank you for being there for me, LOST helped me thru some very difficult times.

    xoxoxoxo Karla

    Haha Ben :]
Now that lost is over … I Have no excitement in my life!! That show completed me!! And YOU JORGE!!! I wish I could give you a big hug!! You’re amazing! Thank you for having your blogs! I love reading them!

  36. jackson June 23, 2010 at 5:15 pm #

My friends and I still do this all the time . . . one of us will say something and the others will randomly relate it to a conversation or character from Lost. I know there will come a day when we won’t do this anymore. I also know I will be very sad on that day.

The numbers are everywhere. $23 for lunch today & $23 to fill up my gas tank after. The finale aired on the 23rd here, which was my b-day. It was a bitter sweet gift. I am very glad that your character, Hurley, was the next Jacob, after Jack. I always felt that Hurley had the truest, purest heart of all the Losties & that he deserved the island leader position. Who else would be so gracious as to let Ben ‘help him out’. I am so glad you are still blogging. I was worried you would stop after the show ended. I really enjoy your travel blogs & such. Even the short blurbs are like getting a postcard from a well loved friend. Thank you. Give Beth a hug from me.

Hi Starchy, Margie, Maria, Julie, Heather, Kyra, Karla and others possibly suffering from “post-LOST depression”,
Thank you all for sharing your deep feelings about life after LOST. I’ve been sad when some of my favorite shows have come to an end (NYPD Blue, Jericho, Arrested Development, X-Files), but I’m not just sad. I truly am depressed and I’m embarassed to admit it to anyone. I spent 6 years getting to know characters/people who I grew to love and now they have “moved on.” I’m grieving over the loss. In a moment of desperation, I shared this with my wife and she was sympathetic, but now her solution is to have me avoid anything LOST related. As much as I enjoyed LOST while it was on the air, I was never as obsessed with it as I am now. Whenever I have a free moment, all I can think of is LOST and I seek out anything LOST to view, hear, read, etc. Although it makes my depression worse, I can’t help myself. As much as I want to, I can’t bring myself to re-watch any of the episodes. I know I want to buy the LOST collection when it comes out in August (not sure how I’ll explain this to the wife). I will have to hold off on watching the DVDs until I think I can handle it. I was watching clips of the “realization moments” from the final episode in my car this morning on the way to work and I cried like a baby. In every other way, I am a fully functioning corporate professional, but this post-LOST depression is really affecting me. Any ideas on how to cope? Again, thank you all for sharing and letting me know that I am not alone.
      -Eddie M

Eddie, until a few weeks ago, I had never seen a single minute of Lost. Years ago a quit watching sit-coms and TV dramas as documentaries became more and more prevalent with channels like AE, History, Discover, Military, Nat Geo etc…

A few weeks ago, my 13 year old daughter began watching Lost on Netflix via the PS3. As she had the TV on ‘lock down’ with what she described as her new favorite show, I had no other choice but to watch it with her. She was somewhere in season 2 when I started watching with her a couple weeks ago. After one single episode, I was absolutely hooked on Lost. For the last couple of weeks its the ONLY thing we’ve watched on TV. I finished the series (w/ the exception of most of season 1 and some of season 2 that I’ve missed) yesterday. I felt so very upset that it was all over, and in addition, I was so angry at myself for not finding the show when it first began, and being there for the entire 6 season ride. I’m truly upset that its over. Today I began watching season one episodes as I had only watched the first 2 episodes about a week ago just to see how it began since I had become so absorbed by it all. The characters, the mystery, the story lines, were like no other. I just wish I could have experienced the enjoyment of the show while it aired, to include the suspense and anticipation of having to wait a week for the next episode, the next season etc. What an outstanding cast, writers, producers and directors that all came together with this lightning bolt known as ‘Lost’. Like Eddie, I think I’m suffering from a desire to be back on “The Island” with all those great characters. Thanks.

  49. Starchy June 24, 2010 at 1:20 pm #

I am so relieved to hear other Losties are feeling this way. It’s like GRIEF. I thought I was nuts!

    Love that Web site!

(I thought I commented, but I don’t see my comment…sorry if it’s a mod thing and I end up double posting…I’ll blame it on Ben…not her boyfriend Ben).

There’s a famous blog site here in my country. We are a pretty big (and sometimes loud) party of people in there,a lot of Lost Super fans…u know! After Lost ending,I thought the blog and everything associated with Lost, will be over too.All the discussions and arguments, the debates and theories, all the anticipation, all the laughing…I thought it would be over by now.Not only this didn’t happen but in the contrary, everyone went absolutely obsessed because of this “post-Lost depression” syndrome. We still arguing about almost anything Lost-related,about the characters and actors and of course about the so famous “unanswered questions” and for the theories as well, about what the one or the other could mean.Who is the “good” guy…who is the “bad” one!Anyway,I decided to post a poll based on the question: “Based on what we already know for the real human behind the Lost character and in association with it,if you had the opportunity to meet in real life any of Lost’s actors and in some magic way because of that meeting a great and real friendship could be developed, which one would you like to be your friend?”
The obvious winner was the one I thought he would be and the one and only I also choose:
Jorge Garcia!!! Hurley, dude…you’re in our harts and minds.Thank you for being such a type of guy, thanks for everything you are…everything you were for 6 years now.And even if we can’t be one of your best friends in real life, we consider ourselves lucky to feel like we really are.

Reminds me of my cousin, who was going to Miami for a weekend last week & texted me around 5 AM from the airport to tell me he kept thinking of Lost, which naturally resulted in Lost jokes & banter for a while. Then when he was coming home, he swore they paged a John Locke.

Also related: a mutual Lost-loving friend has been assigned the dorm room #815 in the fall. She’s scared.

Yeah… mine is getting worse too, actually. Well, not really the depression, more of the obsession! :p

If you can sneak it whilst the wife’s away, check out the “how it should have ended” site, they have a hilarious alternate ending for Lost! It’s sure to lift your spirits, and there’s extra points in it for you if you watch SNL.

My little brother’s high school graduation was yesterday. It’s outside and there a storm was approaching. Literally on cue as soon as the band started the graduation march and the students headed to the field the sky opened up in an absolute downpour. My brother just tilted his head back and opened his arms like John Locke…we spent most of dinner after wards talking theories about Lost after he asked if we saw him do it and got the joke.

    really cute site.
Jorge, did you ever watch the Lost fan promo contest finalists that were on the ABC website?
There were two of them that really played on the theme of Lost fans and how Lost integrated in to their lives so much. It was really endearing. Right along the same lines as this website.
