If you’ve ever had the opportunity to play the party game Dixit you know how great it is. If you haven’t it’s kind of like Apples to Apples only a lot more abstract and imaginative. 
Now there is an app available to play the game online with people all over the world with a wifi connection. It’s called iDixit (note the “i” in front of the name). And the coolest part is the storytellers record their stories in their own voices so you can hear the different accents when you play with people from other countries. 
But this game does not have a lot of players. I log in sometimes and wait for a long time only to connect with one other player. The minimum is three. So far I’ve only had the chance to play one full three-person game. But the ideal number of players would be 5 or 6.
So I’m plugging this game because it is available for free until the end of the month. Download it. Every now and again login and see if there’s a game to join. I think you’ll dig it.

I found it, downloaded on my iphone, did the tutorial. but can’t figure out how to join a game. i don’t understand the passwords to join a game or how I would communicate that to strangers.

Found it. I was searching for a PC free download, downloaded the version on my iPod and THEN figured out that was what you meant because the have the option for online play. Got it!

I just downloaded the app, looks fun!! Buuuut…. I got to a point where there were four of us waiting to play. Why couldn’t we? Do you *have* to have 6??
Well now I am thoroughly pumped to play, but finding no players online as well.. sincerely hope the user base gets bigger soon!
I love the regular version of that game! If only I had something to play iDixit.

this article is from june 15 and says there were issues with the app at launch…3 weeks later, am guessing it’s resolved.
I’ll give it a shot.
I tried to add it but I only have an iPhone 3G and this app is not compatible with my phone.
Also, it’s only free until July 31 it says.
Downloaded and played the tutorial. Sounds like fun indeed. Now I too am waiting for other players.

I’ve had an opportunity to play a few times (though not yet an entire game). Severe lack of people. Too bad, it’s fun!
Couple of issues I’ve seen-when someone bails that is playing, it ruins the game for everyone else. Wish those players could just drop & the game continue. Frustrating.
Will keep pursuing in hopes that word spreads, though!
Totally. Or their wifi cuts out and the the game ends up freezing. I’ve only made it to the end once or twice.
Every time I peek in on your blog and see the title of this one I think “iDixit needs prayers” and wonder for a split second “what’s wrong with iDixit and why does it need my prayers?”
Looks fun, not crazy about the recording your voice part, wish you could type your “story” in.

I’d never heard of this game! I don’t have any of the compatible gadgets so I got the board game. It’s awesome!
I think I’ll look into it. Finding the time to play is another thing altogether, however. Still, it sounds like fun! Just how awesome would it be to play you, Jorge!!!!

I downloaded it, did the tutorial, and it looks really fun, but I haven’t been able to play. There’s never any games, I’ve left it open for hours with no luck.
We love this game. It’s such a great imagination builder for our kids. It doesn’t hurt that the artwork on the cards is fantastic. I’ll go check out the app now!
Love this game and have only had luch with one finished game. There were 5 of us so it took a little time but was fantastic to hear the other voices. I’m really hoping more people get on.
