My Favorite Song This Minute

7 Sep

This is my first “favorite song” post since I’ve relocated to wordpress, but I’ve been meaning to post about this song since they released a video of just the animated lyrics.

Now there is an official video out that you can find on You Tube. However I’m not going to be posting it here.

I will say this: The song is by Cee Lo Green.

This is his website: http://www.ceelogreen.com/

It’s probably safe to say it’s NSFW or children or singing to yourself almost anywhere.

So… happy googling.

It’s reminiscent of Harry Nilsson’s “You’re Breaking My Heart.”

And I can’t stop singing it to myself almost anywhere.

This song is so catchy! I watched the video last week, and then I heard it on the radio over the weekend, which had me laughing pretty hard. I mean, it’s not exactly a radio-friendly tune, ya know?

I bet you have a good voice, you have a lovely speaking voice.

On your old blog you posted a song from The Tallest Man on Earth. If you like them, you would probably like Jack Johnson if you haven’t already listened to his stuff. 🙂

It is a catchy tune – “Forget You” is the clean version. 🙂

Thanks for the heads up (NSF…), I’ll take a pass on this song, though I enjoyed some of your previous selections on the old blog.
    My recent favorites:
“Light and Day” by the Polyphonic Spree
“Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground” by The White Stripes
    “Autumn Leaves” by Eva Cassidy

“If you can hear a piano fall you can hear me coming down the hall…” Good stuph, older releases though.
    Rock on.

I love it. It is so good.

  8. Lisa September 7, 2010 at 2:21 pm #

This is hilarious!! I didn’t even need to Google and as soon as I read “Cee Lo Green” I knew what song it was. My boyfriend told me about it a week or so ago. And if I’m not mistaken, he heard it on NPR! Not sure how they pulled it off. If you haven’t already, check out “I Want You” by Cee Lo Green as well. Awesome “in love” type of song.

The boy goes to bed at 8:00 . . . I’ll be back!

It’s just so darn catchy it’s impossible not to like.

  11. Melinda September 7, 2010 at 4:53 pm #

If I hadn’t already known what the song was from elsewhere, I would have known by the Facebook post from the GJB page, which definitely got my attention this morning! I haven’t heard it yet, and am not sure if I want to–I don’t need to get it stuck in my head and start singing it to myself.

  12. Jules September 7, 2010 at 5:09 pm #

Thanks for the heads up. I’m going to go check this out…

  13. Kelly, The Glass Dragonfly September 7, 2010 at 5:11 pm #

Sir, I’ve been greatly anticipating the return of another “song of the moment” post from you. I found this one a few weeks back and put it into heavy rotation on the ol’ iPod. I’m happy to learn, though, that you approve! Have a great night. All my best to Beth!

  15. Samantha Kam September 7, 2010 at 7:45 pm #

It’s YOUR fault my husband and I go around singing ‘Balls Deep’ over and over and over. At inappropriate times, and locations. (It’s uncontrollable!) I whistle it at work sometimes and hope someone catches on..

This is going to be just like that all over again…isn’t it?

  16. Grace September 7, 2010 at 8:01 pm #

Yes!! I love this song. I wish it were appropriate for public signing because it’s stuck in my head too. I want to rock out to it all the time.

  17. Tiffany Noélli September 7, 2010 at 8:41 pm #

This song cracks me up! And yes, it is VERY catchy and gets stuck in your head, which is not such a good song to sing when you’re out in public…

  19. Johanna Atilano September 7, 2010 at 10:40 pm #

    Off topic…

One of my good friends said she went to high school with you! I’m not sure if she said you guys were in the same grade or not…her name is Julie Schmidt. We all went to see you on Kimmel a few months ago, what a trip!

Have you heard the song “Pregnant Women Are Smug” by Garfunkel and Oates? Really funny and also incredibly catchy.

  21. Brett from Downunder September 8, 2010 at 2:21 am #

    Jorge,

My wife is going to kill me for playing that song so often. Yet I can’t resist. Great pick!

Do you know what this Hip-Hop song is from LOST? Audio link below.

    [audio src="http://www.losthatch.com/sounds%5Cshow_sounds%5CS1E18_Song_Hurley_H2_Hummer_Song.mp3" /]

Fans have been trying to identify it for years with no luck. Well i love it, reminds me of Hurley in his Hummer.

You are now officially my source for new music. It used to be Tarantino movies, but I’ve enjoyed every song you’ve posted, from Eef Barzelay to The Tallest Man On Earth to now this. Thanks, Jorge.

I have a song stuck in my head today called “Baby Likes to Rock It” by the Tractors from the 90’s. If you listen to this song you will sing it for days. It’s driving me NUTS. Here’s the lyrics for the chorus:
She got the boogie woogie woogie spread all over the place
She’s got it stacked to the ceilin’–got it stickin’ in your face
Ya know my baby likes to rock it like a boogie woogie choo choo train

  28. heather September 8, 2010 at 10:13 am #

what a great song! i am going to pandora it for more like it 🙂

  29. Victoria September 8, 2010 at 1:02 pm #

  30. Susan O. September 8, 2010 at 4:03 pm #

Oh man…so inappropriate but so totally hilarious too.

  31. Johannes Fred September 9, 2010 at 12:03 am #

It’s so awesome! I’ve been listening to it almost constantly, ever since Sidekick22 posted it on the GJB Facebook page. It would be a cool single to own on vinyl 😀

  32. Scott September 9, 2010 at 6:09 am #

Awesome song Jorge, found the video and it makes it even better. Thanks for the heads-up. Good job with the island 😉 btw! Hope to see you in something new soon.

  33. Tae September 9, 2010 at 7:42 am #

It always gets stuck in my head right before church. Definitely not appropriate, yet I’m powerless to stop humming it in between hymns. 🙂

  34. Jude September 9, 2010 at 10:54 am #

LOL oh my gosh I just posted this on facebook a few days ago with the lyrics so that everyone could enjoy :-D. Glad you love it too!

  35. Miranda Beverly-Gill September 9, 2010 at 4:40 pm #

I have loved this song since I first heard it, before the official video was out even. I even posted it on my Facebook knowing full well that certain family members would be highly offended! The album, The Lady Killer, does not come out until December though, which sucks! I play it a lot when I’m online but have to keep reminding myself to NOT play it around my kids! Oh, and that clean version, “Forget You”? Blows.

  36. Kelly Roz September 9, 2010 at 7:46 pm #

What a great song! Wish I could bring it to Zumba. A clean version would be high-larious.

  37. David September 9, 2010 at 9:47 pm #

Hey Jorge! I wrote this song about you but I didn’t know where to put it so you would see it/listen to it. Here’s the link:

I’m not into recent hip-hop music at all, so I wouldn’t have listened to this if not for the animated text video (I love those things). It’s actually a really decent (and catchy) song! Thanks for the recommendation. 🙂

    Cee-Lo can do no wrong.

  40. j September 11, 2010 at 9:31 am #

oops, there’s an “f” bomb in there that I forgot about and I don’t see how to delete the post. sorry about that!

  41. J-BIRD September 14, 2010 at 12:32 pm #

Damn, Jorge, that is a catchy song! I just saw your face on the cover of a Weezer album and it seemed so surreal that I had to look you up. Hope all is well with you. I recently moved back to town. Haven’t seen C-A for quite a while, but last I did he told me you stopped in every once in a while. Hope to see you around.

    All the best.

  43. Damon September 19, 2010 at 3:07 am #

NOT COOL MAN, sick of my comments getting deleted. Not like I leave anything rude or bad at all. Later!

    • Jorge Garcia September 19, 2010 at 2:49 pm #

Sorry. But I’d rather people not post comments with embedded videos.

    • tehluckinator September 19, 2010 at 10:56 pm #

DON’T YOU DARE TALK TO HIM LIKE THAT.

      • Damon September 19, 2010 at 11:16 pm #

blah blah blah to tehluckinator. Sorry Jorge, now I know. I just figured I was the outcast cause that’s the first link I’ve added, yet I get deleted a lot. And, I’m a HUGE LOST fan, so not sure what the deal was. No biggie, I forgive and forget.

      • tehluckinator September 20, 2010 at 2:06 am #

        i will fight you.

  44. Damon September 25, 2010 at 3:43 am #

tehluckinator … go away, stop bothering me. You already post like a 16 year old punk, just move on and stop being a pest.

    • tehluckinator September 25, 2010 at 1:34 pm #

      • Damon September 26, 2010 at 1:08 am #

Sorry, but I’m gonna ignore your comments “teh”. I’m not here to get into childish arguments. I’m here for my bro Jorge. Or as Josh “Sawyer” would say… “I’m here for “Deep Dish”.

      • tehluckinator September 26, 2010 at 2:56 pm #

hey, that’s a clever lost reference! very underground-esque, how it’s not a popular line and everything. good one.
