My favorite gifts tend to be the ones I use. I love it when I reach for something on a regular basis and then remind myself that it was a present from someone. Today as I grabbed this oven mitt which, as you can see, has seen better days. 
Someone (I’m not going to mention any names, Beth) reached into the toaster oven with it and touched the top heating coils with it.
As much as it should be retired I can’t bring myself to do it. Here it is in its cleaner and less burnt days.
It was made by a fan who sent it to us post rat incident.
It’s still the first oven mitt I grab although I’m not as confident about its effectiveness.
