at Vinh Loi Tofu.
Having been vegetarian for a while and “off island” even longer sometimes I find myself yearning for the familiar flavors of Hawaii. So when I saw this “Seaweed Roll” on the counter at Vinh Loi amongst the other impulse items I had high hopes. It looked a lot like Hawaiian food you find in convenience stores and delis. My guess (or should I say hope) was that it was going to taste like the queen mother of all Hawaiian heat lamp food: The Spam Musubi.
So I took it home and warmed it up in the toaster oven to create the full effect. And… Pay off. Move over Spam Sub the Seaweed Roll is my new favorite food at Vinh Loi Tofu.
I don’t know how it would hold up against a real Spam Musubi to a meat eater. But for me it has brought me back to the time I had my first at pre-Don Quixote Daiei. (This reference may be too inside or mainlanders.)
My eldest granddaughter loves Musubi! I’m glad you found something very like it.
If only you had been on island a year or so earlier, Daiei was called Holiday Mart!
Congrats on the musubi find, must be hard t get on the mainland, let alone a tofu version. 😀
Well, there is Google you know… ; >

Always nice to come across something you like.
Wow your back!!! Miss seeing you. I guess I’ll have to try it. Its been years since I had Spam.
Is this post technically “spam”? Just kidding. Looks tasty.
If you are happy, we are happy 🙂
Can’t say it looks great to me, but my son would love it. Seaweed and tofu–two of his favorite things.
Fake spam? There’s a joke in there somewhere…
Looks awesome.
It’s looks delicious!
If you have a chance, please try INARIZUSHI(rice ball wraped fried tofu).

Spam, spam, spam………
Next time you are in Hawaii you should try Manabu’s Musubi. They have many vegetarian options.
