I totally almost played them! No, really. Then I thought “you can’t play these numbers every time beause that just makes you a total nerd.” …Did you hear also that 25,000 people who played the actual LOST numbers ended up getting over $100 each?! Uh oh. That’s a lot of cursed money to keep track of.
Sorry it caused a fuss, saw Beth’s comment in the TIMES piece…but my two friends and I wanted to pick numbers so I said let’s use the LOST numbers. Worked for us….but are the numbers really cursed? Hurley ended up running the Island and eventually got Libby….none of which would have happened if Hurley hadn’t used those numbers!
I was so, so close to playing the numbers yesterday and then got too lazy to go out in the snow. I’m kicking myself now. I could have been $150 richer.
I have been saying I should have played the numbers for a long time. My husband could not wait to point out that I failed to play them and missed out on $150 bucks.

I play them regularly. With the Megaplier, I won $600! (Too bad I owe family members more than that!) BUT, it was extremely satisfying to see 4 out of the 6 hit. Now the question is… do I continue to play them? And btw, I will consider the numbers cursed when I start believing that everything else on Lost is REAL. LOL!
The numbers are bad, statistically.
If 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 WOULD come up, the jackpot would be split between all ticket holders, making in this case $41,859 for each of them, reducing the value of each ticket drastically.
Consecutive numbers would give similar results.
In other words, when (quite stupidly) playing the lottery, choose randomly.

Am I a total dork that I have been playing the LOST numbers for the last 5 years in the Florida Lottery? I guess so, considering I still break out in tears if I even think about rewatching the LOST finale. It was just so perfect, I don’t want to believe it’s over.

A dude in Omaha (car dealer of Gerber Auto) hit $250k – he missed the mega ball as his ticket had 41 – DOH!!!! Otherwise he would have had a three-way – HAH!

By the way, (non-related item): my wonderful dog, Hurley, whom I named after your character on LOST and who, as I reported to you at the time (a year ago, when he was a tiny pup), I was told was a Chihuahua mix of some sort, turns out not to have any Chihuahua in him at all, and is instead an Italian Greyhound-Border Collie Mix (we did a DNA test–there’s some other stuff in there, too, but those are the main “ingredients’). He really has the personality of the IG, which is VERY Hurley-like: sooooooooo sweet, sensitive, shy and submissive, yet fiesty when he wants to be, fun and smarter than anyone else of any species in any given room. He really takes after the character he was named after. I still love the character of Hugo “Hurley” Reyes and you, Jorge! (As for LOST, let’s not go there, I’m still recovering from the last ten minutes or so and the fact that I’m still not sure what the BLEEP happened but I’m pretty sure and I don’t like what I’m pretty sure of, nor the fact that I’m not totally sure, as the time for mystery is done and, as Hurley put it once, “Now, I want some friggin’ answers!” But moving along, as the ambiguity of the finale is not the fault of the actors, so no point ranting about it to you… Just wanted to say: 1. LOL re your comment on the numbers, 2. Yay, I found your new blog, and 3. I am so glad I named my dog after you, as he has turned out to be a total Hurley! Oh–and 4. Lol…it must have been a slow news day yesterday. This story was on the front page of our Toledo newspaper, The Blade this morning…but they didn’t say Jorge Garcia, just said a character from Lost and gave the Hugo “Hurley” Reyes lottery win/bad luck storyline 🙂
Oh come on! If EVERY number had come out, just like on the show, then maybe I’d be running in the streets, ripping my clothes off!!! Well, maybe I will pull my socks off right now & run around in circles-its too cold here for anything more!

In 2005 the numbers 4 8 15 16 23 and 24 were picked in the Irish national lottery I think that’s even spookier cause all the right digits are there, only the last ones are the wrong way around!

Dude, I’m watching TV for 60 years and believe LOST was the greatest show of all time. LOST was a game changer and the next day rebroadcast on ABC.com followed with Hulu.com has changed viewing habits forever. Dude, you were good.

A friend of mine was able to look it up and found that something like 3000 people play the Lost numbers. If they had all hit you and 2999 other people would have to split the money. I think that came out to less then $500,000 per person.
I must admit i’ve tried those numbers =P “Lost” was so amazing I actually got nervous about winning! Lol but no winnings, I guess that’s good luck? ::shrugs::

Yes, and they only won $150! If you play the lottery 52 times and only win once, and $150 at that, then you are losing money.
Since only 4 of the 6 numbers came out does that mean the winners money will be only 2/3 as cursed as Hurley’s ? ‘-) xox to you Jorge hug !!!
